Smoke Alarms Save Lives

Sound the Alarm - Save a Life

In light of the recent fire at the Boulders Condominiums in Lebanon, where smoke detectors were found to have been covered or disconnected, this is a reminder that smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors shall not be disabled. They are life saving devices and need to be maintained, batteries should never be removed or the units covered. If a detector is bothersome and sounds occasionally there is a reason for this and the situation needs to be corrected.

These life safety devices are required at some level in all homes, multifamily homes, rentals, which include Airbnb and other types of lodging.

All fire departments and the State of New Hampshire require the appropriate use of these devices. If there are questions as to their correct use and laws applying to them, they should contact their local fire safety official for more information.
