LIGHT EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

The Town of Enfield, NH, is accepting applications for the full-time position of Light Equipment Operator within the Highway Division of the Department of Public Works.

The Light Equipment Operator works under the general supervision of the Highway Supervisor, who assigns areas of responsibility, outlines policy, reviews work in progress and/or completion, and provides instruction, as necessary. Also receives supervision from the Assistant Highway Supervisor for Projects and the Assistant Highway Supervisor for Maintenance. Duties are performed in accordance with established and specified procedures. May be temporarily assigned to and subordinate to other public works department crew leaders and job-site foremen. Responsible for the skilled and safe operation of and routine preventative maintenance of assigned light duty trucks, light construction equipment, and hand and power tools used in the construction and maintenance of roads and other public works projects. The successful candidate will be required to live within a 30-minute response time to the Town. High school diploma or equivalent, plus at least one year experience in road, bridge and sidewalk construction and maintenance work, and the operation of related light equipment. Applicants must possess a NH CDL Class B at the time of their hire. Must be willing and able to work long and unpredictable hours as needed during periods of inclement weather (particularly during the winter months).

Starting pay rate will be $17.00-$19.50/hour depending on experience. Additional overtime compensation is available with supervisor authorization. DEPUTY TAX COLLECTOR

The Town of Enfield, NH, is seeking a part-time Deputy Tax Collector for an average of 20 hours/week. 

Enfield is a community of approximately 4,600 permanent residents (the population increases substantially with seasonal residents during the summer months), situated in the Upper Valley Region approximately 10-20 minutes from the population centers of Lebanon and Hanover (home of Dartmouth College and the renowned Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center) and only two hours from Boston. Enfield is an attractive community with a wide range of local businesses, a proud Shaker cultural heritage, two large scenic lakes, and an abundance of open space.

The Deputy Tax Collector works under the supervision of the Tax Collector.  The Deputy Tax Collector is responsible for collection of all taxes including but not limited to property tax bills, water usage bills, sewer usage bills, sewer betterments, current use valuation penalties and yield taxes.   Acts as deputy for all Tax Collector duties and is therefore subject to NH Revised Statutes Annotated (RSA) Chapter 80. 

Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. At least two years of professional experience in the field of finance, government, non-profit management, accounting, banking, or related field. Any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the desired knowledge, skills, or abilities.

The successful candidate will possess the following:

•     Capable of understanding or knowledge of the State Law as pertaining to the conduct of Tax Collection for Towns and Cities (RSA 80) and its applicability.

•     The ability to understand accounting principles, and mathematical concepts.

•     General computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and previous exposure to financial/accounting software

•     The ability to explain and instruct the general public, employees, and Town officials in tax collection matters.

•     The ability to communicate well both orally and in writing, and possess a high degree of organizational skill.

•     The ability to establish and maintain working relationships with departmental employees, Town Officials, State Agencies, and the general public.

 •    Experience with the Avitar Tax Collect software program a plus.

Starting pay rate will be $16-$18/hour depending on experience.

SEASONAL BUILDINGS & GROUNDS MAINTAINER

The Town of Enfield, NH, is seeking a full-time seasonal Buildings and Grounds Maintainer (B&G Maintainer).  The Seasonal B&G Maintainer position is 40 hours per week and is available immediately. The position reports to the Buildings and Grounds Leader as well as the Highway Supervisor (winter months only). Duties primarily include the mowing, maintenance, and upkeep of town buildings, grounds, parks, and cemeteries. On occasion, duties will involve assisting other public works divisions including highways, water/sewer and solid waste and recycling. The successful candidate will also be able to perform physical work outside in all weather and lift at least 50 pounds.  

Starting pay rate will be $15-$17.00/hour depending on experience. Qualified candidates interested in part-time work (<35 hours per week) will also be considered.
