Message from Kate Langley Hastings, Cyanobacteria HAB Program Coordinator:

"A cyanobacteria ALERT has been issued for Mascoma, Enfield/Lebanon. Cyanobacteria activity was first observed on today 9 June around 10 am, appearing as green clouds of material along the shoreline. See the image above. The bloom has reportedly dissipated; however bloom conditions can change rapidly, so it is best to be on the watch for developing conditions. If you see additional blooms forming, please report it through our bloom report form:

"NHDES urges lake users to perform visual assessments of the water prior to recreating. Stay out of the water and keep pets out if you can see any visual accumulation or coloration of the water and report it to DES:" (https://survey123.arcgis.com/share/151c9fc3c8214c2e93325f77e0f1d578)

"This is not an official cyanobacteria advisory. Signs do not need to be posted."

Beaches and boat launches will remain open. Unless we issue an updated report, the water is safe for pets and recreation. We simply recommend staying aware and watching for possible signs of algal blooms.
