Re: Fire at 36 Main St

PRESS RELEASE
ENFIELD FIRE DEPARTMENT

Re: Fire at 36 Main St

On Monday September 2, just after 5:30 pm, the Enfield Fire Department was dispatched to a building fire at 36 Main St.    Automatic mutual aid was started according to protocol which is standard practice for building fires.

The building is a multi-family building on the corner of High St and Main St.

Shortly after arrival of the first engine, a second alarm was called due to the size of the building and potential for fire spread.

The first engine arrived quickly and through an aggressive and quick attack of the fire, fire damage was held to the room of origin.   There was smoke damage throughout the entire building, and power was shut off by Liberty Utilities.    Crews remained on scene for approximately three hours to conduct overhaul and salvage operations.

The fire is not considered suspicious.   The NH Fire Marshal’s office will look over the area today.

We would like to thank all departments that responded to this incident:  Canaan, Lebanon, Hanover and Springfield fire departments all operated on the scene and Grafton, Grantham and Springfield provided station coverage at various stations.   The Enfield Ambulance was on scene in case medical services were needed.   Great work also by the Hanover Regional Communications Center.

Also a huge thanks to George’s on Main St for providing water.
