Town Manager Update - June 5, 2015
Greetings,

It has been awhile since my last update, and I hope to have these out on a more regular basis.  Let me start with the opening of Shakoma Beach.  We will have lifeguards at the beach this weekend from 10am to 5pm.  The beach opens full time next weekend.  As a gentle reminder, if you do spend time at the beach, please park at the beach parking lot and not in the boat launch parking area.

The Budget Committee met this past week.  They have started meeting, not to start on the 2016 Budget, but to have a better handle on how our expenses and revenues are tracked throughout the year.  I have created a spreadsheet that is updated every time we pay our bills.  This will provide a real time picture of not only how we spend, but when we spend as well.  For example, we have a little more than $6,700 left in our salt budget, or almost 9% of the $77,500 that was budgeted.  It makes sense that we would spend most of our salt budget in the winter.  The remaining funds, along with our existing salt stock pile should be sufficient to handle our salt needs for the rest of the year.  This report was presented to the Budget Committee and is also shared with the Selectboard and other Town departments.  The Budget Committee will meet again the first Thursday in August for another update.

Our Summer paving program begins next week on Mountain View Dr. and Patricia Ct.  Our Water/Sewer Dept. conducted some smoke testing this week to help identify potential leak sites.  A couple sites were identified, which will help reduce storm water infiltration into our water and sewer systems.

The Selectboard, Zoning Board of Adjustment and Planning Board all have meetings this week.  The Selectboard was rescheduled from last Monday night and will be at the DPW building.

As always we have a variety of recreation activities planned for the upcoming week.  You can check out the Town website or call the Town Offices for specifics or questions.
Have a great week.  Thanks
